Will Iran’s government be pardoning thousands of prisoners? After widespread protests across Iran last year following the death of Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by the country’s morality police, around 20,000 protesters have been detained. Four people have been hanged because of their engagement in the anti-government movement. The pardons were announced ahead of the anniversary of the Islamic revolution in 1979.
