Kaya is a service dog who has been with her handler, Cole, since 2014. She was specifically trained to help veterans cope with mental health issues, and was the inspiration for the PAWS Act, a pilot program that provides canine training to eligible veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. Sadly, Kaya was recently diagnosed with an untreatable cancer and she took her final flight home.
