Two whistleblowers told Congress that IRS investigators recommended charging Hunter Biden with attempted tax evasion and other felonies, which are far more serious crimes than what the president’s son has agreed to plead guilty to, according to transcripts of their private interviews with lawmakers. Attorney General Merrick Garland denies the whistleblower's claims. Biden's lawyer calls claims his client received preferential treatment, "preposterous and deeply irresponsible."#cnn #news #hunterbiden #biden #politics

Donald Trump is facing a dangerous criminal case. So what better thing to do than to go on Fox News to talk about it. #donaldtrump #trump #2024 #classifieddocuments #politics #crime #florida #usa | This week, Fox News’ Bret Baier grilled Trump on the case, referencing a recording cited by prosecutors of the former U.S. president allegedly showing a classified document about secret military plans to attack Iran to people without clearance.
 | Donald Trump is facing his most dangerous case over allegedly taking classified documents, so what better way to take on 37 criminal charges than to blab about it on Fox News?
 | According to the transcript, Trump said he could declassify the battle plan if he was still president. And according to the tape, Trump said: “This is secret information. Look, look at this.” | In response, Trump appears to have admitted to the recording in his clarification to Baier, saying “I couldn’t declassify it, because I wasn’t president.” He then doubled again, saying “when I’m not president, I can’t declassify that.”
 | But when Baier tried to clarify, Trump retracted, saying there was “no document,” and that there were “a massive amount of papers and everything else talking about Iran” but that they were just article clippings.
 | Trump then went on to blast prosecutors working for the Department of Justice as “very dishonest people” and “thugs.”
 | He also took shots at General Mark Milley, who reportedly angered Trump by warning Trump might attack Iran to retain power, according to the New Yorker. But on that recording, Trump allegedly told the group that it was actually Milley who was war-mongering—not him.
 | When Baier brought up that part of the tape, Trump said he believes he’s never seen a document from Milley. He also called him “incompetent.”
 | Trump’s trial has been tentatively scheduled to kick off on August 14. | Did Trump Just Incriminate Himself On Live TV?

Lindsey Graham, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, seemed to lose his cool on live TV when asked how he could endorse Trump for president after he was accused of hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home.
 | Instead of answering the question, Graham first accused Democratic leaders of crimes. ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos pushed back, telling the senator to focus on Trump, and Graham snapped.
 | “No, let me finish. That was ridiculous,” the senator responded. Eventually, Graham said that if it were up to him, no one should take classified documents, but stopped well short of condemning Trump. | Sen. Lindsey Graham

R—Colorado | @morgan_rimmer | This Lawmaker Says She Didn’t Vote On A Bill Out of ‘Protest.’ Video Actually Shows She Was Too Late | Rep. Lauren Boebert said she staged a “no-show protest” by voting “absent” on the debt-ceiling bill. But actually, she was absent because she was just too late to vote.
 | A new video captured by a CNN producer contests her claims, showing Boebert sprinting up the Capitol steps and being told voting has closed.
 | This comes after she spent weeks calling the bill a “complete disaster” and retweeted colleagues who said they’d vote “no” on the bill.
 | Now, many are pointing out that the reason she didn’t vote was because she missed it completely.
 | The bill was passed in the House by a vote of 314-117. 149 Republicans and 165 Democrats supported it while 71 Republicans and 46 Democrats opposed.
 | It was signed into law by President Joe Biden Saturday, averting a catastrophic default.
